Picture Gallery One

Using clay and the art of trompe l'oeil Bascom's works are composed of hand built life size ceramic sculptures.   Each sculpture is kiln fired and finished with stains, acrylics, waxes, or other surface treatments.  Some of the pieces are detailed with small bits of mixed media to further fool the eye.
The purpose of Bascom's work has always been to 'tell a story'.  Each work below is an assembly of multiple pieces of sculpture that are displayed together in the form of a vignette. While these tableaus all reveal their own scenario, together they represent her most recent series entitled, 'Images from Childhood'. Along with her series work, Bascom also creates single stand alone pieces that give us a glimpse or memory from the past.
